Farah Aina
Putrajaya Precinct 9
"I came to the first drop-in not knowing anyone. Within ten minutes I was chatting with a woman who lives two streets away and we had never crossed paths before. The session itself was easy — nothing pushed, nothing rushed. I booked the weekly series the following week."

"My wife encouraged me to try Sekata. I was sceptical about group things generally, but the size of the group made a real difference. It is not a class — it feels more like a regular catch-up that involves some movement. Four months into membership now."

"The online community space surprised me. I expected it to be quiet but people actually use it. There is a small group of us who message each other between sessions about things completely unrelated to movement — that is probably the best sign that the community is real."

"I tried the weekly series first. It was good but I honestly was not sure after the first two sessions. By the fourth one I realised I had started looking forward to it during the week. Joined membership at the end of the series."

"What I appreciated most was that Nur Aisha remembered my name from the second session. In a group activity that is unusual. The seasonal Raya gathering was lovely — it felt like meeting up with people you already know, which I suppose by then we did."

"I came with my sister for the drop-in and we both left with the tip sheet and a genuine smile. The refreshments were a nice touch — proper drinks, not just water. We signed up for the coaching series together. It is easier when there is someone you know already."

MEMBER JOURNEYS
Longer Accounts from Regular Members
Three members share how they found Sekata and what changed for them over time.
THE SITUATION
Starting Over After a Busy Year
Faridah, a mother of three in Putrajaya, had gradually stopped any kind of regular activity. She wanted something social but felt intimidated by the idea of joining anything structured or performance-focused.
HOW SEKATA HELPED
Drop-In, Then Series
She started with a single drop-in, attended three more over six weeks, and then joined the weekly coaching series. The consistency of familiar faces made each session feel natural rather than like an obligation.
WHAT CHANGED
A Routine That Stuck
Eight months later, Faridah is a full member. She says the movement is one part of it — the other part is simply having a reason to leave the house and see people she enjoys spending time with.
"I go every week now. It is just part of my Thursday."
THE SITUATION
Retired and Looking for Connection
Encik Sulaiman retired early and found that his social life became narrower without the natural rhythm of a workplace. He was looking for something local that would give him structure without demands.
HOW SEKATA HELPED
Community as Purpose
The weekly series gave him a fixed point in the week. Over two months he built a small circle of people he meets regularly. The seasonal gathering at year-end felt, he said, like a proper celebration among friends.
WHAT CHANGED
Consistent Engagement
Sulaiman renewed his membership this year. He now helps newer members feel welcome in the first session — something the Sekata team noticed and appreciated without making a big deal of it.
"I didn't expect to feel useful here. But I do."
